Eid Mubarak Everybody! – Video Review
How amazing does it feel when Eid has arrived? Thanksgiving, Christmas and the other holidays cannot hold a candle to the Eids! Whether it’s Eid-Ul-Adha or Eid-ul-Fitr, Muslims across the world have smiles on their faces (yes, even the grumpy Uncles), a pep in their step and hearts filled with thanks because they know they have reached a big milestone and, through Allah’s grace and generous permission, have been rewarded for their sacrifice and efforts for the days preceding the Eid celebration.
So of course, there’s no better time to bust a move and get “lit” like the kids these days say with your loved ones than on Eid day! “Eid Mubarak Everybody” captures the excitement and fun of the occasion with an upbeat song that is sure to be a staple to put on blast every time Eid comes around.
About The Video
“Eid Mubarak Everybody” is a track released by Native Deen’s Abdul-Malik as part of his solo endeavor “Conscious Reboot” which dropped in 2015. The song has an infectious energy from the start with the lyrics:
Today is the day when the jubilant rise
We ready for the Eid and we gonna dress nice,
Get a brand new suit wear your favorite scarf
Tell your work, school: I’m taking off!
Accompanying the bopping tune and Abdul Malik’s rapid-fire flow is a funny cartoon animation that is akin to the animated sitcom “Family Guy” of Muslims preparing for and engaging in all sorts of Eid festivities. The little Eid celebration dance performed by one of the characters is sure to get a laugh out of viewers. You’ll even notice some familiar faces in the background if you look closely as some of the characters resemble figures like former US presidents Barack Obama and George Bush. “The animation software we used had a limited amount of characters, so we had to choose from some that resembled presidents”, Abdul-Malik admits.
Another bit I appreciate from the song is the recognition and celebration of all the different cultures that make up the Muslim community. Abdul-Malik throws in lyrics in Spanish, Urdu, Indonesian, Arabic, and Malay as well as mentions different food items like Gulab jamun and Jalebi to highlight all the different backgrounds of those who celebrate Eid across the globe.
The chorus of Eid Mubarak is infectious and will have you humming it long after the song’s conclusion. The song video then ends with the soulful chanting of the traditional Eid takbeerat and a call for everyone to sing together and rejoice as “these are the days of Eid”.
Final Verdict
“Eid Mubarak Everybody” is a memorable song that should be on the playlist of your Eid gatherings with family and friends. It’s fun, catchy and shares a great message about the significance of the day to Muslims. It shows that just like people from other cultures and religions, Muslims can have fun too and get in a celebratory mood for big events. Not everything has to be serious, especially when it’s Eid!
Play “Eid Mubarak Everybody” with everyone around and it’s sure to be a hit.
